Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in English Literature from Columbia University's Barnard College. I have been tutoring students ranging from elementary schoolers to high school students for the past decade. I am most passionate about helping learners improve their reading and writing skills. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ACCUPLACER, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, and SSAT. As a tutor, I like to spend time getting to know each of my students' goals and preferred learning style. I enjoy creating individualized tutoring plans for students, as I find tailoring my teaching style to meet students' needs helps us progress more rapidly, and with greater comprehension. I have a great sense of humor, and I strive to incorporate that into every session. I have a lifelong love of learning, and I hope to convey that to each student I work with. I encourage my students to ask questions, think differently, and come at challenging topics from new angles. I am enthusiastic about education, and my work with my tutees reflects this. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, museum-goer, hockey player, and yoga practitioner.
