I am an established, experienced Math and Chemistry Tutor, and Test Prep teacher for many standardized exams. I cover elementary school through high school level math, including homeschooling assistance. I hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, and tutor at the high school and introductory college level. Test preparation includes the math/science portions of the SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, GED, ASVAB, ISEE, SSAT, TEAS, Praxis and more. . My goal is to connect with the student at THEIR level. We start by going over the fundamentals of the subject, the basics of problem solving and work from there to foster independent thinking. I use varied approaches when the student is "stuck." I am friendly, patient and very persistent. I can assist with classwork and homework, and will assign supplemental work to advance the subject area as needed or desired. My goal - to ultimately work myself out of a job! . For standardized test preparation - we review the most frequently tested concepts, go over proven test taking tips and strategies, and practice exams. Together we develop a strategy that best fits your strengths to the test and minimizes any weakness or anxiety. If a calculator is not allowed - no worries! We go over how to simplify calculations and how to effectively ballpark and estimate. By building skills, we build confidence and maximize your score. . Tutoring is tailored to your needs - single or recurring appointments welcome. Online tutoring is $65/hr. Post COVID, I will come to your home, or meet in a mutually convenient location, such as a library, coffee shop,... Tutoring at a location no more than 20 minutes drive from the Danbury Fair Mall is at my regular in person rate of $80/hr.
